Innovation

One of the most innovative sites I came across in recent months (maybe even years, at least since I first visited intentionallies) is Leo Burnett's site. It's fun to use, it's intuitive (which you cannot say of many innovative sites), and if this wasn't enough, it is also beautiful.

In other words, well worth the visit.

Canada 2005

I can hardly give a full account of our three weeks in Canada without writing a book, which I won't. You can get a glimpse of the way I saw Canada on my Flickr Account.

Anyway, three weeks were too short for all this...

Tokyo Pt. 2

Japan was really quite some experience. I've posted some photos at Flickr. As you can see, I am really fascinated with the sheer huge-ness of the city and its architecture as well as its roots in tradition. You wouldn't see so much traditional clothing in Berlin for example.

Speaking of architecture, I must say that this is a reason for me to return to Japan some time. From Starck's golden poop to traditional temples everywhere, from the narrow-ness of living in capsule hotels to the wide-ness and seeming waste of public space on Odaiba, everything is in this metropolis, of which some people say that it spreads like cancer in the bay area. I haven't been to a capsule hotel since I am 1,95 m and easily claustrophobic for that matter, but my hotel room in the Tokyo Ariake Washington Hotel was definitely only 80% of the size of European hotelrooms. Although I must say that I've stayed in a smaller hotel room in Cologne for more money.

Anyway, you can not really tell how it is with all the jet lag and the lost in translation feeling and the vastness of public space and the tiny private space. You have to be there. It is such a pulsating city and we had only one and a half day to have a closer look, because we had to work there of course. This is just not enough. I will return there some time, but not in July at the end of the raining season...

Trip to Japan for the ELW 2005

So, everybody. This is my blog and my first entry. I will keep it short since I still have to find out about the features of blogger.

I've just returned from Japan where I took part in the E-Learning World 2005 exhibition for the Virtual Linguistics Campus. And it was quite some experience. I've been to Japan for the first time and the jet lag and culture shock came smoothly but everything really reminded me of Lost in Translation, even if to say that is some sort of cliché. I know. But nevertheless...

As I said, this first post will be kept short... ;)
